Senior Creative Retouch Manager

London

YOUR ROLE

As a senior core team member, you will be required to have strong knowledge of retouch workflows, techniques and procedures.  You are expected to take a hands-on approach to creative and technical aspects of a project.  Your role will require strong communication skills between Client Stakeholders, Senior Staff, Creative Directors and the Producers, to ensure the smooth running and delivery of projects.

In addition to your managerial duties, you will work on a range of creative projects leveraging your retouch skills across advertising, fashion and sport based projects.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Business Development teams with scoping out creative retouch and CG briefs.
  • Participate in client briefing, feedback and creative scoping sessions.
  • Initiate and manage appropriate project workflows.
  • Ensure retouch briefs are delivered against the highest creative standards.
  • Quality control and colour manage final deliverables.
  • Work with producers to document project specifics, workflow setups and configurations for all project assets.
  • Help identify tools, software, hardware and efficiency workflows for retouch processes which can add value and quality to work.
  • Be accountable for quality control and the creative execution within set deadlines of projects.
  • Finalise the deliverables for specific Print/Digital needs.
  • Talent sourcing, collaborating with producers to ensure that Happy Finish maintains a pool of highly skilled artists and specialisms
  • Liaising with and managing internal and external resources to ensure project briefs are met and delivered to the standards required.

 

OBJECTIVES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Be a key player in extending HF’s position at the cutting edge of digital content production, development and deployment.
  • A creative and highly skilled and technical role, leading the effective delivery of projects from conception to pitch stage to final delivery of content.
  • Deliver the highest quality assets, images and animations.
  • Contribute towards the improvement of HF’s internal production processes.
  • Play a lead role in sourcing artists and creative talent
  • Ensure that projects are delivered on time and budget at the right quality levels.

KEY SKILLS

  • Be client facing with the confidence to lead client calls offering solutions and guidance and to receive feedback
  • Experience using Capture One software & stacked captures through Helicon Focus.
  • Proven and demonstrable experience in high-end retouching/image creation showing great artistic skills (composition, perspective and tasteful colour grading).
  • Proven ability to work concurrently on complex layered files, dealing with multiple assets from a variety of sources & integrating them in one seamless composition.
  • Retouch with CGI: In depth understanding and practical knowledge of CG workflows; pre-rendered and real time; working with renders, render structures, layer modes, techniques, and how to add realism to all CGI renders.
  • Proven ability to colour match to products/corporate colours.
  • Thorough understanding of the final delivery specifications for different media: online, OOH, POS, print.
  • Deep understanding of lighting, scale, perspective, focus, realism, colour balancing and grain structure.
  • Exceptional in depth knowledge of Adobe Photoshop.  A good understanding of Adobe illustrator and Indesign would be ideal.
  • Experience using Adobe After Effects or Adobe Photoshop to create Cinemagraphs & Parallax animations would be ideal.
  • Team orientated, capable of motivating and leading others with a can do attitude
  • 8+ years of experience with demonstrable portfolio of your work

YOUR ROLE

Your core role will give you creative responsibility over the motion design team.   This role will be hands-on.  Working closely with producers and creative directors you will produce decks and pitch.  You will lead from concept to delivery to produce the highest quality of moving image work.

You will have a keen interest in design and motion as an artform, being aware of visual trends and a variety of styles and aesthetics.  This is knowledge you will use to inform new concepts and designs while improving and mentoring the team.

You will be a capable art director, though for large projects we will augment the team with additional art directors to match the project requirements.  Ideally, we want an expert at conveying product features and benefits through a combination of literal and abstract visuals and concepts.

Working with the team, you will be able to determine the best softwares, routes and expertise for any given project, depending on the aesthetic and motion direction.

We want someone who’s going to continuously challenge and surprise.  Exceeding expectations Internally and for the myriad of brands we collaborate with.

You’ll not just be responsible for the motion design team, you’ll also be supporting, critiquing and designing for immersive projects.

OBJECTIVES AND DELIVERABLES

  • Deliver the highest quality motion design solutions for world leading brands and products.
  • Devise highly creative and visual concepts to realise clients’ objectives and goals
  • Willing to learn the secrets of immersive technology and become a driving force in bringing high quality motion design into the space.  .
  • Work with the producers, creative directors and the motion design team to drive the creative quality of projects and the reputation of the business in the motion design arena
  • Push the boundaries of what’s technically and creatively possible.
  • Create or direct scamps, storyboards and key frames to clearly convey your vision.
  • Respond to and win briefs across a wide range of sectors, from automotive to fashion, from consumer electronics
  • Make teams and clients believe in your creative vision.

KEY SKILLS

  • 5+ years hands on motion design experience
  • Clear and outstanding communicator, in Italian and English
  • Proven management and mentoring experience.
  • Strong graphic eye for typography and graphic design
  • Strong understanding of motion design and core animation principles
  • Keen eye for detail and ability to convey how to improve motion and composition
  • Strong creative and technical abilities
  • Expert experience of an industry leading 3D motion package (C4D or Houdini)
  • Excellent knowledge of high end particles and simulation (physics, soft bodies, etc) packages (Xparticles / Houdini Particles)
  • Extensive experience of Adobe Creative Suite and Adobe After Effects and core plugins

YOUR ROLE

You are part of a team of passionate creatives, developers and producers who create world-class visualisation and immersive technology solutions that help transform customer experience, collaboration and communication.

 

The CG Motion Generalist will be working on a range of projects leveraging their creative CG skills across stills, animation, generalist CG tasks, photo-composites for stills, web-based 3D experiences and immersive projects, but with a particular focus on creative motion work.

 

The ideal candidates will have demonstrable animation experience of working with people, animals, pharma and technology.

 

You will support HF in creative proposals and previz, and ensure that we deliver against the highest standards as well as participate in client interactions representing production for project scoping, creative reviews and project debriefings.

  • Execute chalk visuals/renders to still briefs
  • Work with the producers to ensure all renders are product correct prior to handover.
  • Ensure that all files handed over to the Retouch and Dev teams are pre-checked and pre-approved with no render errors or data quality issues.

KEY SKILLS

  • Diverse capabilities of the principles of 3D, such as animation, modelling, rigging, texturing, shading, lighting, rendering and effects
  • Excellent Pre-Vis skills
  • Excellent lighting and texturing skills
  • Excellent organic and non organic modelling
  • Good understanding of particle animations and fluid simulations
  • Good understanding of tracking, compositing and VFX
  • Good understanding of character rigging
  • Photo-real shader development using the latest techniques
  • Strong understanding of colour theory
  • Good artistic skills (proportion, colour, composition).

SOFTWARE SKILLS

  • Proficient in one major DCC Digital Content Creation package (please list).
  • Knowledge of applicable software that would be advantageous: Houdini, Nuke, Zbrush, Phoenix FD, RealFlow.
  • Experienced with Adobe Creative Suite
  • Effectively execute all necessary assigned tasks while under tight production schedule deadlines
