Shocking truths about the levels of plastic pollution in our oceans

Acclaimed fashion and beauty photographer, Elisabeth Hoff, grew up travelling the world, visiting untouched islands and swimming in crystal blue seas.  Today, these once remote beaches and seas are devastatingly littered with plastic. A cause close to her heart, Elisabeth set out to curate a campaign that would highlight the impact excessive plastic usage is having on our planet.

Having worked extensively with Elisabeth, retouch artist Chris Roome was involved from the very beginning of this campaign.  With an accomplished background in fashion and beauty advertising imagery, Chris was able to help put together a paradoxical campaign comprising of stunning imagery juxtaposed with a powerful and daunting undertone.

In addition to the retouch of the campaign still images, Chris crafted a parallax effect to replicate the ocean’s tidal movements and particles of light within the animation to bring the impactful message of the campaign to life.

Chris reflects on the emotional nature of the campaign ‘it was an eye-opening project to work on, combining Elisabeth's beautiful imagery with the poignant message of the project makes for a truly powerful campaign'.
